MIKKO

Mikko was found wandering central Swansea all alone.  When he first arrived here with us he was unsocialised and extemely nervous. After having him castrated and working very closely with Mikko over a peroid of 11 months he had become a confident, happy little man.   I am overjoyed to say that Mikko has now been rehomed to an expectional young woman from the Pontyberem area and introduced to a new buddy Gwion the ferret.  We really could not have found a better home for this little guy!  Congrats little man!!

PRIMROSE

Meet Primrose!  She is a very special lady.  Primrose is a wild rabbit, rescued at roughly 4 weeks old.  She had been found in a field by water engineers on call, very weak, dehydrated and being circled by hawks.   She was taken to a lcoal veterinary surgery where we picked her up.  After contacting a number of wildlife organizations and explaining her situation we concluded she was not suitable for reintroduction to the wild.  After searching long and hard for a specialised home, Primrose's prayers were answered!  We were contacted by a woman in a similar situation, caring for a young, wild male rabbit, "Harvey."  We swapped photos of the young buns and realised they were a perfect match!  Harvey was neutered and the two were introduced.  They are still together, living happily ever after!  This case is a very special one-- we DO NOT support domestication of any wild species unless it is the very last resort.

Update:  "...Primrose and Harvey are such characters and I love them very much. We are in the process of building them a new outdoor enclosure to replace the old one. It is a large 7ft x 7ft shed with an attatched walk-in run... Thank you so much for letting us adopt Primrose. She's such a joy to have live with us and Harvey and Primrose are very happy to have one another..."

DANDY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Dandy's previous owner kept him in a tiny hutch all alone, with no fresh veg or time to graze.  He was one of the worst cases of neglect I have seen in a guinea pig.  His 6 inch long hair was matted and his skin was extremely irritated.  He was diagnosed with an eye infection, and inturn was not able to see to walk.

After a hair cut, shampoo and very good ear cleaning Dandy looked like a new man! He has since found a loving place to call home, with Elaine of Tenby!  Dandy now spends his days being pampered and groomed by his new Mam and LOVES catching up with the lady pigs (separated by bars ofcourse) to say hello and display his famous rumble strut!

UPDATE!  14/03/07:  Dandy's new sister writes,  "....He is so different now to when we first had him, He is always calling out if we are in the room and havent given him a fuss... and he climbs the bars until we go give him a stroke or cuddlle!  The funniest thing is when its his turn to wander in the back room.... he goes from one cage to another looking for the girls wiggling and calling as he goes!  Such a change and he such a gorgeous looking ragga muffin! Mam Keeps having to give him haircuts as it goes a bit hectic! but he is as good as gold!..."

Little Stevie

8 Month old Stevie's last owner was no longer able to cope with his care, as she had severe asthma and her children had just lost interest in the little man...  He has now found a loving new home!  Congrats little man!!

Meet Sandy, a lovely little lady handed in as unwanted pet.  Sandy was surrendered pregnant and covered in open sores and mites.  She had been forced to live in an overcrowded hutch with 7 other guinea pigs and a rabbit for over a year, never coming out to explore or graze.  After being with us over a year Sandy has finally had her prayers answered by one of our dedicated fosterers willing to offer this special lady the forever home she deserves.  A HUGE THANK YOU GOES TO JANE RYAN of Swansea for her continued support and interest in the piggies.

"...They are doing really well and seem to have forgiven me, almost, for having shampooed them last Tuesday... They are spending their days in the run and their nights in the greenhouse at the moment - interspersed with cuddles, and seem to be so grass-loving that despite having spent all day on grass eating grass, the first thing they go at when they are put into the greenhouse is the big pile of grass we've picked for them and put in there...It is really lovely having them with us. I am as excited about them and spending as much time with them as Autumn, so all is really very well!..."

R2 & D2:

R2 and D2 have found a loving new home with a family in Swansea, after their previous owners could no longer give them the attention and enrichment that they were used to.  The new carers, first time pig owners, are thrilled to have the boys and are eager to learn everything they can about guinea pig care!  Congrats boys!!

MAUDE:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I would like to take a moment to send my thanks and appreciation for the kindness and true animal lover spirit harboured by the "Many Tears Animal Rescue", in Carmarthen.   Maude was brought in to the veterinary surgery where I work just yesterday.  She had been found in a stream, crying out and desperate for help.  Severely emmaciated, Maude was too weak to pull herself out of the stream's steep enbankment.

Upon arriving to the vets where I work Maude closely resembled a smaller version of the dog from the Dulux commercials.  Her hair was unkempt and horrificly matted around her lower joints, keeping her from moving her legs properly.  Even her tail had become matted to her back leg, appearing as though she had no tail at all!  It took 2 hours of grooming to remove the huge matts and free this poor lady from the hairy prison she had been living in.

Unable to take her on personally, I phoned Sylvia at the Many Tears Animal Rescue to seek advice.  Despite already being full with countless other dogs and cats in need, Sylvia agreed to take the little lady in.  Although Maude was only just rescued and her future with a new loving owner is not yet clear, I truley feel that Sylvia's kindness has garaunteed this little lady a second chance at a happy life.   She is safe now that she is in Sylvia's hands, I know this much.    THANK YOU TO MANY TEARS ANIMAL RESCUE!!  You have been an inspiration to me ever since I first visited your centre, following your warm invitation!

BOB the FIRE SALAMANDER

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This male fire salamander has found a new home with a family in the Crosshands area of Llanelli!  His new owners are exotics friendly and already care for an array of snakes, monitors and arachnids.  This little salamander man came to us in a hamster carrying case and has now been happily rehomed into a 20 gallon vivarium.  Updated photos to follow!

LIL' RUPERT

Rupert the ratty has been successfully rehomed with a loving lady from the Cardiff area.  Lil' Rup was surrendered due to a case of allergies in his previous home. Like all other lone male ratties that come in to us, Rupert was neutered upon arrival.  His new Mum has taken the time to socialise him with a new female companion, "Honey." Honey and Rupert now share their home together.  Congrats Rupert!  You deserve it!

Hayden was rehomed on 04/02/06 to a loving couple from the Ceredigion area.  The couple traveled all the way to Swansea to meet little Hayden and bring him home to live the rest of his hammy life in comfort and happiness.  Congrats Hayden!  We will miss you lil' man!

These two young men were rehomedwith experienced animal carers, Mr. & Mrs.  Ryan of Swansea!  The couple have a lovely home and garden for the boys to enjoy.

UPDATE:  Mrs. Ryan has informed us that the boys are really flourishing in their new environment!  Mrs. Ryan writes, "They had a lovely christmas... they had an igloo and a few different fruit and seed treats which they enjoyed... they are very tame and happily sat there to have their picture taken... they love being stroked and nursed... they are delightful!"

AMOS & ANDY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

These two 5 year old lovebirds came from a woman who was no longer able to care for them.   They had never been given "fly time" for the entire time they resided with their previous owner.   The boys have now found a new home in Swansea, with access to a spacious outdoor aviary and heated indoor environment.  Their new owner has loads of experience with lovebirds and has built all his enclosures himself.  They are also surrounded by their new lovebird friends (not housed together) to help them adjust to their new surroundings!

MATT & MILAN

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

These two strapping young lads were recently rehomed to a couple in the Burry Port area.  They are currently undergoing introductions with the couples' existing male ratties.  Wish them luck!!  If introductions fail with the other two boys, Matt and Milan are still garaunteed a loving home as a forever part of the family.

JASPER: "THE WOMBLE OF WIMBLEDON"

This precious little man was found wandering alone one evening at dusk in the Wimbledon Commons.  He was malnurished and his toenails were very overgrown, making it difficult for him to walk and forage for himself.   Jasper was brought to Swansea, in hopes of finding him a good home.  Jasper has now been rehomed with a loving couple in Pontardawe!  Jasper was listed in the local paper as "Pet of the Week" for Saturday the 5th of November, 2005.  If you missed this story you can read it now HERE.

BEYON & YONEB

These two beautiful 4 month old ladies just arrived August 17th!   Their previous owner had horrible allergies and couldn't spend as much time with them as needed.  They absolutely LOVE to run in their new wheel and can be heard late night squabbling over "runner's rights."  They have met their new Mum and will be going to their new home September 11th!  Good luck ladies!

These 3 fellas were rescued from a terrible fate. After growing up together and living as housemates for almost a year, these young lads were scheduled to be snake food! Luckily, a kindhearted woman rescued the men and brought them here. They have found a home, with Elaine of Tenby, where they can live happily ever after and free from the fear of predators!

BURTON & SPEKE:

These two lovely chaps were rehomed to an experienced owner in Nottingham, where they were introduced to ratties Brunswick and Nimbus.  All four boys get on great and as a result of patience and loads of attention both Burton & Speke have become confident and adventurous men!

"They’re such winning little guys, and once they came out of their shell they’re full of personality. Even though they must be pushing two now they are still full of bounce and fun, and I hope they’ll be with us for a good long time yet." - New Mum, Fran

GRABBY & BUMPO

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Grabby and Bumpo were introduced after arriving here at the rescue.  With no fellow rabbits as company to relax and enjoy their days with, Grabby and Bumpo were two grumpy buns.  Yet, as soon as they set eyes on each other, their lives changed forever!   The love birds now reside with David of Pembrokshire, where they enjoy grazing on a large plot of land set aside just for them!

BODGER & BADGER

NEIL

A permanent resident here in our own home, Neil is a lovely tempered 8 1/2-year-old male Leopard Gecko.  He was taken from an exotics dealer, who had been keeping his animals in implorable conditions.   He is now plump and happy, perched on the window sill, enjoying the view

SOPHIE

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Sophie's story is a special one.  She was rescued as a puppy, facing the possibility of being drowned.   Fortunately, this disturbing fate was avoided after a Swansea woman heard about Sophie and saved her life.  Sophie enjoyed a long and loving life after her rescue, yet sadly passed away this year at 19 years of age.

CHARLIE RAVIOLLI

Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Charlie is a 3-year-old Border Collie mix.  Rescued from Llanelli Dogs Home at 14-weeks-old, Charlie is now a permanent resident here.  He is full of personality and is a wonderful companion.  He has also befriended our rat, "James Brown," and they now hold daily grooming sessions as seen below.

GREG THE HAMMY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Greg is an inquisitive and full figured hammy.  One of the biggest I've ever seen! Greg was rehomed with a lovely couple who work with the local "Dog's Trust."  Greg now enjoys daily escapades in his ball, tormenting the family dogs.

JAMES BROWN

Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com

James Brown is a 1-year-old Albino rattie.  He was brought to us because of a case of allergies.  This little guy is one of the greatest ratties I have had the pleasure of spending time with.  He loves his food and satisfies his sweet tooth with the occassional "Kit Kat Cube."

MYRTLE & IVY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Myrtle and Ivy were rehomed with a family in Pembrokshire.  Still very young, the pair had been through so much in their early days.  They were a product of irresponsible breeding, leaving them abandoned and homeless.  They can now relax and get used to their huge new custom made house!

BUBBA & TINKS

Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Bubba and Tinks were both taken in from an overcrowded rescue centre.  They were both ill and unsuitable for adoption, so they stayed with us until they passed away.  While they were with us we did everything we could to treat them and keep them comfortable.  Bless these little ladies, they were so strong during their struggles.

PIPER & HAMLIN

Image hosted by Photobucket.com   Image hosted by Photobucket.com

These two gorgeous girls have finally been rehomed! The girls arrived at the rescue after their original owner had completed an animal welfare course project for which they were bred.  After the course ended so did the student's obligation to the animals.   Ironically they ended up at our rescue.  Thanks to Chris of Newport, the two will be enjoying a life of relaxation and luxury in their brand new double wardrobe--  now converted into a ratty haven.

FLAKEY JAKEY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We had the pleasure of sharing a couple months with this fine young man, after his owner was no longer able to keep him.  We worked hard to find a good home for Jake, and he now resides with a loving new family who is overjoyed to have him as a part of their life.

BEN & JERRY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com   Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Ben and Jerry were residents here at our rescue for quite some time.  We were so happy when we heard from Hannah in Bristol, who was very anxious to meet the boys.  We took the trip to Bristol and they now live in a lovely new home with Hannah!

FEJI, KIWI & TIGGY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

These three gorgeous pigs were rescued from a life of neglect and bordom by a lovely lady named Eloise.  Eloise keeps in touch regularly with news of the crew.   Eloise says, "They are doing so well-- if the old owners saw them they wouldn't recognise them!   You would never guess that they would tremble when you stroked them, they are changed pigs!"

THELMA & LOUISE

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

These two ladies are the sisters of Myrtle & Ivy (listed above).  All four girls came in to us from an overcrowded rescue in Devon, England in July 2004.  They served their time here with us and are now happily rehomed with Chris of Newport!  They have plans to be introduced to two of Chris's other ladies "Piper & Hamlin" (listed above).

MINKY

Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com  Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This little gerbil lady was transported with her family from a Cardiff veterinary office, where they were all scheduled to be put to sleep.  Instead, the gerbils were rescued from this sad fate and Minky has now found a new home with Victoria and Tom of Bristol!

Welcome
