Swansea Small Animal Rescue

Making a Big Difference in the Lives of Small Animals

Adoption:

Terms & Conditions

The following Terms and Conditions MUST be met and agreed to before adopting your new Friend:

ü      The animal(s) will be housed in a suitable cage, with dimensions supporting the Rescues requirements.

ü      There will be at least 45 minutes allocated everyday allowing the animal(s) outside the cage/enclosure for Human interaction, Exploring, Exercise and Enrichment in a secure pet-friendly environment.   Outdoor runs and hutches must be elevated or covered to protect your furries!

ü      Adequate bedding must be maintained at all times, and changed at least once a week.

ü      The animal(s) will be provided with good quality dry and fresh food at regular intervals and will always have access to fresh drinking water.  Tasty treats are considered a vital part of enrichment, but must follow the species guidelines for care and must not be over fed.

ü      If the animal(s) should appear to be lethargic, ill or injured at any time the advice of a qualified veterinary surgeon will be sought immediately at the carer’s expense.

ü      To keep the animals(s) safe and secure at all times and out of the reach of other animals (example dogs and cats).

ü      The new carer adopting the animal(s) is NOT a dealer or breeder of small or any other animals.   Nor can the adopter be an agent for such a dealer or breeder.   Adopted animal(s) will be kept as pets and will NOT be used for breeding, vivisection, food, for experiment or stage purposes.  Do not allow the adopted animal(s) to breed, this makes my job 10 times harder.

ü      If an animal does become pregnant, the new carer will inform Swansea Small Animal Rescue as soon as possible and all the offspring will be handed back to the rescue at the age of weaning (4-8 weeks depending on animal species).

ü      The animal(s) will be provided with proper care in the event of the new carer’s absence. (ex: on holiday)  Swansea Small Animal Rescue also provides these services.

ü      The new carer should always try to provide the animal(s) with attention and love.  In the case of rats, guinea pigs, and rabbits it is suggested that company in the form of another animal is provided, but without the opportunity to breed. (Same sex groups or Spayed/Neutered pairs.

ü      Swansea Small Animal Rescue should be informed of any change of address where the animal(s) are being kept.

ü      To allow a representative of Swansea Small Animal Rescue to visit the adopted animal(s) from time to time without prior notice.

ü      If the animal(s) can no longer be cared for by the new carer they will be returned to Swansea Small Animal Rescue at a pre-arranged date, providing their own transport.  Not to give, sell or lead the animal(s) to anybody else without written permission from Swansea Small Animal Rescue.

ü      The animal(s) at Swansea Small Animal Rescue are re-homed at our discretion.   Swansea Small Animal Rescue can refuse to rehome an animal without giving a reason.  If the animal(s) are rehomed by Swansea Small Animal Rescue the rescue reserves the right to have this animal returned if the conditions of adoption are breeched in ANY way.

ü      The new carer is over the age of 18 and it is agreed that the animal(s) are not going to be left in the care of children under the age of 18.
